The Saga Continues

Unable to take the abuse any longer, new chickens decided to try their luck with the pigs. White chickens went in to test the waters...

Sensing mild victory, gray chicken joined them...

This was all quite successful, until ginger chicken found her way into the pigs as well. She seems a little more mellow over there though. Perhaps the large snorting pink animals make her nervous.

Veg patch is coming along very nicely and two are ready for a load of manure so planting can begin. We will hopefully be able to dig up the others before the weather gets too poorly.

We also have a gate! Luxury. Three more are in the process of being made. Who knew one would define luxury as being able to use a gate instead of hoping over a fence, praying large snorting pigs don't knock one down.

Work on the barns has begun as well. Roundup- a very powerful weed killer-has been administered and some of the buildings will be painted next week. Next we will take all the growth down with a strimmer and see what can be done to the roofs.

Also got all my bulbs planted and I can't wait for spring to see all the daffodils and tulips. Fingers crossed it will look like a rainbow threw up all over our flower beds.

Loved reading the bucolic prose til I got to the throwing up rainbow! Well, it's a unique metaphor. I'm amazed at the work you've done.

Love,
Mom

Your comment about the pigs knocking you down reminded me vividly of Dorothy Gale falling into the pig pen before the tornado takes her house to Oz.
