Weekend of Fun

You will never believe it but it was actually sunny this weekend! I attribute it to Clifton. He was visiting from San Francisco and I think he brought the sunshine with him cause now he is gone and it is cloudy again. Stinky was here as well and we had ourselves a mighty fine weekend. Thanks boys for a great time!

I have decided that I am going to finish writing my dissertation this week so that when I go to SF all I have to do is edit edit edit. I am confident I can do it. I can't believe I leave next week! Time flies! Not looking forward to long flight and long lay overs. Yuck!

This one is for you poopie

Who is poopie? An old friend who requested I update my blog, with pictures! So here goes.

First, let me just start off by saying that it has been raining ALL DAY. It did stop for about 10 minutes, long enough for me to put my running clothes on and be hopeful I wouldn't have to run in the rain. Again. Well, I am still in my running clothes and getting less and less hopeful. I can't remember the last time it wasn't raining when I went for a run. Soooooo tired of the rain. It is summer right? Somewhere?

Right now I am just working on my dissertation so my life isn't all that exciting except I did get to pop over to France to see my sister and nephew. Had a great time! They did a flat swap so had a nice little place to stay while they were here. We took a couple of day trips. One to Versailles which was the nicest day weather wise out of the whole trip.

We didn't realize that everyone and their mother would be there as everything was closed in Paris and therefore had to wait in very long lines and stand closer to people than I normally like. I liked Versailles-the garden was amazing-but really didn't enjoy the inside so much. I am glad I did it but not so keen to do it again. I would go back for the gardens though. They were enormous! I think the inside will be better when you can wander around and look at things at your leisure. We felt pressed for time and there were just too many people, as you can see here...

We also went to Chartres which has a lovely old cathedral and coincidentally enough holds the robe in which Mary gave birth to Jesus. We happen to be there on the Holy Day of Assumption and got to go to mass without even planning on it! It was actually kind of neat. They did a procession through the town as well but we skipped that as we had already walked around all morning waiting for mass to be over and were running out of things to do. The cathedral was huge, beautiful stained glass and kind of what you would expect from an old Gothic cathedral. The town was nice as well but everything was closed, it being a holy day and all.

It rained the whole time I was in Paris as well. This is what it looked like when I got there...

and this is what it looked like when I left...

And since I have been writing this it has begun to rain harder.

Not much else going on. I am still training and ran 13 miles last weekend. It was hard but felt good. Leave for SF soon and I will do a half marathon while there. Bluck. It is my parents 50th wedding anniversary...can you believe it!? Simply amazing!
