Random Thoughts

Still no pics. Soon, I promise. I even took pics of my room mates so I can post them as soon as possible. My life will be so much easier when I have internet at home!

Rain is threatening today and you know, for a place where it is suppose to rain all the time, it is awfully hard to find an umbrella. And people do use them here, I've seen them.

In other news Madonna brought home her new baby yesterday and boy, does the press here hate her for it! She is in the papers everyday and they think this is just about the worse thing she has ever done. I am tempted to go to the neighborhood where she lives and see if I can find her house with all the media outside. Then when people come to visit I will have something REALLY cool to show them.

I have been trying to think of a good goal for me and I think it is going to be the London Marathon. I have toyed with the idea of doing a marathon for a long time and you know, I don't have a lot going on right now except school so why not? I think if I can do this I can do just about anything. It is hard to secure a spot and although I would want to do this for charity, you don't have to raise as much money if you have secured a spot on your own instead of securing a spot through a charity. There is one charity in particular I want to run for but they would require I raise £1500. Thats a lot. I am also considering running for the SF AIDS Foundation-see what they can do to help me out. We'll see. I still need to send in my ballot. Must do today...

The Good and The Bad

Lets just start with the bad and get it over with-I'm sick. I thought it was allergies but as I sit here at a computer trying to study I realize that no, I'm sick and anything I am reading right now will be forgotten as soon as my eyes stop looking at the text. The good news is that I get to go home now and watch movies instead.

I went to the British Museum this weekend and I love that place! For one thing it is free, as all museums in London are, so that is a huge plus, but they also have free guided tours of different rooms which I just think is the coolest thing ever! They also have the reading room which use to be the British Library and it is a lovely place to study. I definetly plan to spend many afternoons there. And when I get bored, I can just go hang out with the mummies.

I also discovered something about British TV that makes me so happy I could pee my pants. As you will recall Dancing With the Stars is just about my favorite show ever. AND THEY HAVE IT HERE TOO!!! Now granted, I have no idea who these so called celebrities are, but there is one man on it that is so handsome that it doesn't matter I have no idea who he is. (I doubt most people do-he plays cricket) The judges are the same, the format is the same, everything about it is the same. I have already warned my roommates that I will be watching this program every Sunday and they are not allowed to speak to me while it is on, or make any noise that will interfere with the program. Finally something to look forward to in my week.

I am sad I am not in America watching baseball right now. I am trying to find a place that shows the games here but with the time change it is a little challenging. I went to the temp agency today in hopes of finding a job and I think they should be able to. I hate the idea of working for them but it is the easiest way to get some money coming into my pocket.

Go A's-Do the Bay Area proud!!

Loud Typers

I am currently at school (i don't even have class) and I am in the computer lab trying to figure out IP addresses and the like and there is a gentleman sitting next to me (I think he is German) who is TYPING VERY LOUDLY. It is almost as if he was punching the keys on the keyboard. Is he angry with the keyboard? I keep looking at him hoping he will get the hint and ease up a bit but so far no luck.

School is going really well. I was doing some reading this weekend and was so excited about what I was reading. How dorky is that? I am in the process of looking for a job because I am not comfortable with all this money going out and none coming in. If I could work ten hours a week that would be perfect. And preferable not on the weekends.

Oh, and I almost forgot. I was going to make this a separate blog entry but since I am here... The tube is great and all and it can take you anywhere, but God help us when one of the lines shuts down, which happens suprisingly a lot. This morning on my way to school I took the bus to the appropriate tube stop only to discover that the tube was closed. I then had to take another bus to a different tube stop and then proceed to take two more lines to get to school. It didn't actually take that much longer (about 30 minutes) but if I had class I would be screwed. It really really sucks when these things happen-your whole day is just all messed up.
