ENGAGED!

In case everyone I know doesn't know yet, I'm engaged! Yippee! Above is a picture of us just moments after the event. The story is this...

Martin decided a while back to climb Mont Blanc, Europe's tallest mountain. The only time for him to go however was the week of my birthday so as compensation, he flew me to Chamonix meet him the day he summited. I arrived on Friday evening-the same day Martin had woken at 1:00am and made his way to the top.

That evening we caught up and had dinner with his mate James and his fellow climbers. That night we stayed with James with plans to do our owning climbing the following day.

In order to get to the start of the walk, we had to take two lifts up the mountain. The first lift was high but doable. The second lift went over a deep gorge with a very sharp incline at the end. I took one look at it, and said no way! I felt a little silly, as I knew it was perfectly safe, but I felt sick looking at it and I just didn't want to do it. Disappointed Martin relented and we decided to have lunch on a grassy knoll instead, with Mont Blanc and the Alps in front of us.

Confronted with this beautiful scenery I couldn't help comment what a beautiful place it would be to get married. And to my shock and surprise Martin got down on his knees, pulled out a ring and said how about second best instead-will you marry me? I said I'd think about it. NOT. I of course said yes and waited for the news to settle in, which I think I am still waiting for!

We finished our lunch, bought some champagne and called our folks. Now we are searching for a venue so we can set a date to allow as much time for people to plan to come as possible. Spring, 2011, UK. I thought about having it in Cali but trying to plan a wedding and choosing a venue from so far away just would not be fun at all. But I am hopeful that all my loved ones will be there-what better reason to come to London??? AND it is a great city. YAY
