Wedding Invites

Just a little wedding planning update. We are very close to the invites being sent out and they should hopefully arrive in your mailboxes in just over two weeks! Martin designed them so be sure to be doubly impressed when you open them. We are quite attracted to Rob Ryan's artwork and have tried to create a theme with his artwork in our stationary. It began with the save the date cards and will continue with the wedding invites and onto things printed for the day. I really like them. A bit different. A lot of thought and effort went into them, which helps make them special. You know what is not fun about wedding invites though? Addressing them!

More cupcakes

Today I practiced with different colours. I like the yellow. Less keen on the pink. I like the swirls! I tried to also make some flowers but I don't have the right tip so they didn't work out. Hopefully they taste good as well! These have pineapple on the bottom and the cake and frosting are made with coconut milk instead of regular milk. Pina colda cupcake style!

Cupcakes

For the wedding I wanted to do cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake. I thought it would be fun to add the personal touch and a good way to spend time with people as they can help me decorate. I recently sent out a brief of what I wanted them to look like.

I have started practicing and tell you what-not as easy as old Martha makes it out to be! This time around I think a lot of my problems had to do with the thickness of the frosting and I have a feeling it will take me a while to get this right. Needs to be thick! But even though the finished product didn't really look like anything I wanted it to look like, I learned heaps. I spent a lot of time practicing on the back of a plate before I put anything on a cupcake and this helped me tons. I know my finished product won't look like Martha's, but the point is to do something fun with my ladies before the wedding, and not be so concerned with the perfect end product. Luckily I have some former professionals in the family and so far the advice has been very helpful!

Wedding plans are going well and as I type Martin is busy working away on the invites. He has been a real star-he has designed all the stationary for the wedding and the invites are really sweet. I am really excited about them. Not much longer now, just three and a half months. Super excited!

Last night Martin and I went to an event called Secret Cinema. The idea is you buy tickets to a movie, but you don't know what it is until you get there. They give you clues leading up to the event and you have to dress up however they tell you. (we had to dress up in the spirit of the late 40's). When you get there (and you don't know where you are going until a couple of days before the event)it is like you have stepped into the movie. They have various rooms designed to look like sets from the movie and people walking around as if they are the characters in the film. Our secret cinema was The Red Shoes. Made me think of my mom and remembering how I dreaded watching this film and then loving it once I had. Martin wasn't that keen on the actual film but the overall experience was great. Super creative and very well organised. Would definitely go again! Although it was rather cold. And we got separated at the start which was frustrating. But other than that, thumbs up!
