Voted

Today I voted. Please o please don't let McCain win! What will happen to us all then? The end of the world, that is my prediction. And then can you imagine he dies and we are stuck with that Palin woman? I find it absolutely amazing that there are people in our country who think either of these people are the right people to run our country. It is time for change. We are in desperate need of change.

Here is a something you don't want to hear while you are on the tube..."There are severe delays on all underground lines due to unforeseen incident in Central London". It made my little heart beat just a bit faster. I turned on the news when I got home but there was nothing reported so not sure what happened there.

I leave a week from Friday for my trip to Italy. I run the marathon a week from Sunday. I am finding it very hard to motivate myself to run at all. Like today, I don't have to work until 4:00 so I should do a longer run, but I have Sense and Sensibility on and it is raining outside and I am just not sure I can be bothered! I am hoping all this rest will just make me stronger for the big day! After the marathon Martin and I are renting a car and spending the rest of the week in Tuscany. I cannot wait! We are staying in Chianti and hope to make trips to Sienna and Florence and explore the Tuscan countryside. It should be wonderful.

By the way-I did go on my run and, per usual, I am really glad I did. Nature rewarded me with a path blanketed by gold, green, orange and brown leaves. It was beautiful. And the rain didn't start again until I got home.

Cornwall

A couple of weekends ago we went down to Cornwall for a wedding. This trip was much much sunnier than our previous one as England enjoyed three whole days of summer. Cornwall almost feels like California. There are surfers everywhere and boys on skateboards. We had a great time and I finally got to spend some time on the beach, although in jeans and a sweatshirt. It may have been warm but we were still in England!




I have been instructed by Martin to not post pictures of him on my blog but mmm, too bad, I like this picture and he happens to be in it. On purpose. We took a walk along the headlands with sweeping views of rolling hills and the sparkling sea greeting us with every turn. Very beautiful.



The hotel on the cliff is famous for being, well, expensive. I have been told many famous people have stayed there. Cornwall in general is famous for its cream teas which we had at this hotel, while enjoying the view below. Moving here I had no idea what a cream tea was until I had one, and they are a treat. It is basically a cup of tea with a large scone with butter, jam and cream on top. Sounds simple enough but it really is something special. Cornwall is also famous for their cream, hence the popularity of cream teas.

us included! Although I think this picture was taken a bit earlier. It doesn't exactly look like sunset does it? This is a good mental note picture. Amber, mental note, take off sunglasses for photos! But it is a nice photo of Martin so hopefully he will approve of it being posted.

Last weekend we went down to Poole again and I ran 20 miles. Actually, I ran 3 hours. I am hoping that is close to 20 miles. The run actually wasn't bad. The only really negative thing I can say about it, besides the rain, was that I accidentally threw away my water bottle and had to go a while before I was able to purchase more. I meant to throw away my banana peel but in went the bottle instead. I contemplated digging it out however what would I do then? I certainly wouldn't want to drink from it! I am pretty sore and my knee is bothering me, but I only have two more weeks until the marathon and I am hopeful I will heal before then.

Before I forget, I made these cookies from the NY Times, and Ginny was not kidding when she said they were the best cookies ever. They really are. It is a bummer you have to refrigerate the dough for so long before baking time, but I feel this step is necessary and it does prevent me from making them constantly. Healthy they are not.
