News Update

Areca, a woman I work with, just informed me that two people were shot dead literally two blocks from our office in broad daylight. What is going on???

New Project! Yipee

I am not allowed to go to the knitting store with Laura any more. We went to Imagine Knit yesterday because I was inspired to make something for my friend who just had a baby and is suprisingly very cute. (I say suprisingly only because the baby is only a month old and usually at this age cute is not a word I would use to describe a baby) What was suppose to be a quick stop for inspiration turned into a sweater making contest. Laura and I found a pattern we both liked and I suggested we both make it and she agreed. In true Mooney fashion we made it into a contest but I think in this situation we both win. And it is a relatively cheap sweater to make as the yarn is bulky and I only need 6 skeins. I am excited. It is really cute and if I ever get a digital camera I will take a picture. I am almost done with the arm warmers as well. I think they are pretty cute as well.

I went to LA this weekend and had a lovely visit with my sister. It was really nice to hang out and do nothing. Well, not nothing, but you know what I mean. I also gave a presentation to her high school classes which went pretty well. Well, maybe one went pretty well and the other I just rambled. I also got to do some research at the Shoah Foundation which was cool. Details are boring so I will spare you.

Now I start my crazy work schedule and have to get ready for Halloween. I am still not sure what I want to be. I am thinking safety monitor. Or creepy guy in the corner. Or maybe nothing. That would be the easiest.

What the #@&%?

I have been going to the gym a lot lately mostly cause I lack anything else better to do. I try to weigh myself every Monday and every week I have gained weight. What? This pisses me off. I am in no way trying to loose weight but I am certainly not trying to gain it either. And I don't want any comments that it is muscle. I am sorry but I am just not gaining that much muscle every week. My clothes don't fit any different so that is good but this trend cannot continue or I will have to go to the gym to loose weight, which obviously won't work. Maybe it is all the chocolate I have been eating lately. Nah.

I have another day off today. It is the first day of something. Of what I am not sure. I also get the last day off. Great. I actually had to do some work this morning but it is okay. It was at least interesting.

I am off now to go watch Lost, eat some meatless meatballs and work on my arm warmers. The weather outside is crappy so I can feel good about doing nothing at all.

The World Series and a Lame Friday NIght

Tickets went on sale today for the world series. Despite the efforts of numerous family members we were unable to secure seats. This seems odd to me. How can a family of eleven not secure seats for the World Series for a team no one cared about until they started winning? My family members have always been Angels fans. We grew up with them. And although I have turned in my halo for a big old G, I still have a soft spot for them.

Okay, I have to divert. I am sitting in my living room with my computer, fully intending to study once I finish this blog, and my VCR just started rewinding. Uhhhhhh. I'm not watching anything, and it wasn't playing anything. And earlier the kitchen light went off. And then on. And then off. And then on. Is there a ghost in my house? I am all alone too. Eeeeek. Ginny, you might get a phone call from me in a sec. I am kind of spooked out. This is a big friggen house too. Genie-where the hell are you?

I am being a total dork tonight. I went to the gym after work where in the sauna I droped my locker key in between the planks, lost forever. I then had to wait about 20 minutes for them to open my locker. In the meanwhile, hanging out in my towel, I saw a lot of women forgetting that they were not at home in their personal bathroom. I hate that. It's the gym ladies-keep some things private. I then came home, popped some corn and watched the end of the Angels game. (they lost) Now I am sitting on my couch in my pajemas with a bar of galaxy chocolate within grabbing reach. Not very exciting but if I study until my computer dies then I am allowed to knit for the rest of the night. Die battery-run out of juice already! I know, I'm crazy.

Congrats Yuri and Flaco

I went to Yuri and Flacos wedding last week and it has taken me a while to feel like I have the pictures necessary to post but now I do. I hope you enjoy them. It was a great, fun, great wedding and I wish the pictures could capture how much fun we had. Yuri was an amazing bride. No freak outs, very calm, easy going-she was great. We had the rehearsal Friday in Glen Ellen and lets just say it was hot. It was Africa hot. And no one was prepared for it. The sun was directly in our faces and we were all squinting and doing our best to keep out of the sun. It luckily cooled off the following day and the weather was perfect for the wedding. We were a little nervous though. We then had a vegan dinner at a inn down the road and not only was it a beautiful setting but I had the BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE EVER and it was vegan. Who knew. I dream about it it was so good. Flacos and Yuris parents were both so lovely and nice and Flacos dad- what a guy. He couldn't pour us the wine fast enough. After dinner we went to the local saloon but I called it somewhat of an early night cause I had to wash my hair for the hairdresser in the morning and didn't want to look too hungover.

The wedding day was a great day. Like I said Yuri was so calm all day and while she was having her make up done, Kate, Ellen and I had our hair all fixed up. The wedding wasn't until 4:30 but I have to say it was nice to have all that time to get ready and not have to stress about time.
The ceremony was lovely and I of course sobbed like a baby. I felt a little silly but oh well, that is what happens. Yuri was a beautiful beautiful bride and Flaco didn't look bad either ;-). Actually, Flaco had kind of a mess on his hands with first his best man not being able to attend due to a pregnant wife going into labor and then with his new best man forgetting his pants. (how do you forget pants?) Oddly enough another guest happened to have a spare suit which fit him perfectly. It was kind of comical. The reception followed immediately after with a cocktail hour, speeches (again the tears-oyi!), dinner and then dancing all night long. Okay, until 10:00 because of a noise ordinance. But I do think I was on the dance floor for as long as possible. It was so much fun. We then went back to the bar after that where I did stay up late and woke up looking more than hungover. The wedding was also nice because it was so small and I knew so many people there. I would say there was about 70 people there and if you didn't know them before the wedding you certainly knew them after. It was so great to be with a small, closely knit group who all know Yuri and Flaco really well. If I didn't have a million people in my family I would shoot for the same thing for my own wedding.

I felt very special to have been apart of this day and I wish you both all the love and happiness in the world!
